What has been happening in Room 24?

Introduction

The Year One children have had a wonderful start to the school year. They have settled into the class routines and enjoyed visiting the specialist classes.

In our classroom, the children are learning how to work together in groups. Each week, they participate in a team building activity. An example of this is the ‘Find Someone Who’ activity which parents participated in at the parent information Session.

We have five home teams. Each team has four or five members that work together as shoulder partners or face partners.

Parent Information Session

Thank you to all the parents for attending the Parent Information Evening. I hope you gained a better understanding of our routines, classroom management, my expectations and school policies.

Great Resources
To support the children in counting, I have been incorporating some entertaining songs into our daily Mathematics Warm Ups. The songs focus on counting from 1 to 100, counting by 2s, counting by 5s and counting by 10s. I have saved the songs into the Resources Section of our blog. At home, I encourage you to provide opportunities for your child to orally count from 0 by 2s, 5s and 10s to 100.

Special Events
 Student Councillors
Congratulations to Jai and Winter for being voted by their peers as the Student Councillors for Room 24.

Merit Certificates
Congratulations to Alessandra and Kayden for receiving their well- deserved Merit Certificates. Keep up the outstanding effort.

Australian Day
On the 14th February, the children participated in a 'Australian Day' celebration. The children looked stunning in their costumes. Thank you for your time and effort in helping your child with heir costumes, and for your donations.

Science Investigation
In Science, we are learning about materials. In week six (9th March), the children are encouraged to bring an object to school and discuss its properties. It can be anything (as long as it can fit into their school bag).

Thank you
Thank you very much for your wonderful support over the last few weeks. If you have any questions or would like to chat, please come and see me.

Kind regards,
